Give caregivers a reason to engage and open the app every day
Overview
Daily Reward is an engagement engine in the Caribou caregiver app. Each day, caregivers complete one quick activity, spin the wheel, and earn tickets toward your agency's prize draws. It turns checking the app into a daily habit — and a caregiver who opens the app daily is one who sees your shifts, messages, and updates.
How it works
1. A caregiver opens the Caribou app and sees the Daily Reward card on their home page.
2. They complete that day's activity. It takes less than a minute.
3. They spin the wheel and earn tickets toward your agency's draws.
Daily activities include things like:
• Viewing and hearting a Moment post from your agency. Moments can house videos as well as images.
• Answering a quick question about their work preferences or availability
• Receiving a recognition message
• Reviewing their top shift picks (requires shift booking to be turned on)
Caribou manages which activity appears each day, so the experience stays fresh without any work from your team. We're adding new activities regularly — like weekly hours check-ins — so the Daily Reward keeps getting more useful over time.
Why enable it
In early launches, caregivers who engaged with the Daily Reward opened the app significantly more often. More app opens means more caregivers seeing open shifts, completing their profiles, and staying connected to your agency.
The daily activities also collect useful information, like availability and work preferences through the caregiver profile. You can filter caregivers by this information on the Employees page, and export the data from there.
What it costs
Nothing extra. By default, the Daily Reward gives tickets, which are entries into the draws you already run. Caregivers earn more chances to win — but your prize budget stays the same. Caribou manages the reward amounts so the experience stays balanced.
How to enable it
Before you start, Automated Draws must be enabled for your agency. Tickets need a draw to count toward.
1. Go to Rewards Configuration in your admin dashboard.
2. Select the Engagement tab.
3. Find Daily Reward and select Enable.
Good to know:
• Enabling Daily Reward also turns on the Complete Shift Profile Questions goal, so caregivers earn a reward for sharing their preferences. The default is 10 tickets — you can change this amount in the settings.
• Once enabled, caregivers receive messages letting them know the Daily Reward is live.
Post Moments regularly
The Daily Reward is only as engaging as what caregivers see. Moments posts are your channel to communicate with your caregivers, and viewing a Moment post is a core daily activity. Post regularly — as much as 3-4 times a week.
Ideas for what to post:
• Policy reminders
• Training requirements
• Where to receive PPE
• Dos and don'ts of clocking in and out
• Caregiver highlights
• Anything else you want to communicate to your caregivers
FAQs
Does the Daily Reward cost my agency more money?
No. Caregivers earn tickets, which are entries into your existing draws. Your prize spend does not change. If you would like to reward points, you can contact our CSM.
Do we need to run draws to use it?
Yes. Automated Draws must be enabled first, since tickets are entries into draws. If you don't have Automated Draws set up, you can enable it under Rewards configuration > Engagement.
Can we choose which activities caregivers see?
Not right now. Caribou manages the daily activities and reward amounts to keep the experience effective. New activities are added over time.
Do caregivers have to participate?
No. The Daily Reward is optional. Caregivers who skip a day simply don't earn that day's tickets.
Does it work if we don't use shift booking?
Yes. Activities like Moments, recognition, and profile questions work for every agency. The top shift picks activity appears only if shift booking is turned on.
Can we see the information caregivers share?
Yes. Profile information collected through Daily Reward activities shows up on the Employees page, where you can filter by it and export the data.
What activities are coming up?
We're building more activities all the time. Upcoming activities include surveys, quiz-style questions, activities that help caregivers download and onboard onto clock in/out apps and many more are all ideas we want to bring to life!
What communications do caregivers receive?
When the Daily Reward launches, caregivers receive an email or text message letting them know it's live. Then caregivers will receive reminders at the time that they usually complete their daily reward to collect.
What happens if we want to turn it off?
Contact your CSM to disable Daily Reward.
Do caregivers need to do anything to get started?
No. Once you enable it, the Daily Reward card appears on their app home page, and they'll get a short intro the first time they open it.
